Welcome to
The Middle Kingdom
HOME OF THE RABBIT PRINCESS

The world of The Rabbit Princess is a concoction of ancient and modern potions. The foundation of the story is a re-telling of several different and disparate Chinese folk tales, and this heritage is rooted in several of the key spirit figures in the story such as Qilin, the Jade Emperor and Yanluo. The natural landmarks and settings are based on Chinese folk tales and modern national parks.

THE CHARACTERS

The two principal characters, Annie and Pika, are based on R. Chen's children's stuffed animals. Most of the original characters are based on endangered animals in China. The remaining characters are based on Chinese mythologies and folk tales.
THE PATH

“We all need more than ourselves in this world.”

Princess Annie and the Crown Prince Pika, unwittingly, set in motion a rebellion that brings down their kingdom and gets them magically turned into rabbits on a forbidden mountain. Trying to stay alive and find a way back to the human world, they search for the legendary unicorn spirit, Qilin, with the hopes she can reverse the magic spell. But soon, they are pulled into a perilous war between animals and spirits where their dreams and courage are tested, and they must discover who they really are. Now it's up to Annie and Pika to save another kingdom from falling before they run out of time.

The Rabbit Princess is an incredible adventure of a brother and sister finding their own paths through life, in a world where hope is a stronger potion than magic, and one’s own will to dream can transform one into a hero.

Years later, a new force has arisen to overthrow the kingdom. Naso must find the others to help her and her granddaughter, Osani, fight to keep the kingdom they so love from falling apart. Along the way, they learn that no matter where their journeys lead them, the ties that bind their hearts—love, integrity and loyalty—will always bring them back together.

ABOUT R. CHEN

R. Chen was born surrounded by the bridges of Portland, Oregon. He grew up playing in the streets and woods, and chasing his imagination through stories and drawings. When the world told him to grow up, he did just that—he got a tie, a watch, a job and a car (not necessarily in that order). One day, while holding his two young children, he realized he wasn’t done chasing his imagination. And now he’s doing just that—teaching his children that one should never stop chasing one’s imagination.
